On the way to the Doctor

Today was our first visit to the Doctor. The process started around 9 am for our 11:30 am appointment. I made and ate breakfast while Naomi took her shower and Shaelynn slept. I finished breakfast in enough time to make Naomi something to eat before I took my shower and she was still sleeping. Naomi was feeding her by the time I got out and was ready to change her shortly after (this was around 10:15 or so). Today we moved past the black tar stage of dirty diapers and into the runny dark mustard color, which is harder to clean up. The hard part is when she decides she's not done going while you're trying to wipe her clean. Then when you think it might be safe to start putting the diaper back on she let's loose again. The nice part this time was that she also peed so it made clean up a little easier. After this went on for 20 minutes or so we finally said the hell with it and threw a diaper on her and had to leave. So, after hearing all of that this is why she looks so happy in this picture. The doctor checked her out and she's put on 6 oz since we left the hospital and there are no signs of jaundice. We go back for or newborn check up next Monday, we'll be sure to keep you updated.

2 Days Old

I know it's out of order but we're new parents and are trying to figure out a schedule and then she decides she's hungry but doesn't want to eat cause she has the hiccups. Then from the hiccups she has to burp but you you try to burp her and can't because she is crying from having gas. It sounds like I'm complaining but I wouldn't trade a second of it.

Our 1st Night

Our 1st night was an experience. We had a couple of friends stop by to check on Naomi and Shaelynn, only Justin cared how I was doing. Thanks Justin, he also reminded me it's not about me anymore and probably wont be for a long time.

Everything was good up until about midnight when Shaelynn woke up crying and wouldn't stop. We tried so many different things that where shown to us in classes and none of them seemed to work. The only thing that helped was holding and rocking her but I couldn't put her down so I could go back to sleep. Eventually Jamie, our nurse, came in and took over for me so we could sleep. Thank God for her.

When Jamie brought Shaelynn back in the morning she did mention that she was spitting up more than normal and it could be from a variety of things, not being burped enough, the jostling around or too much food. It's kind of a trial by error and find out what's going to help her keep food down. She is getting fed and peeing and pooping so that is good that she is digesting what she is taking in.

This morning Dr. Martin came by and checked the little one out and said that with the spitting up and being our first he'd like us to stay another night. Everything looks good 10 fingers, 10 toes, hearing check out good, eyes are responding to light. They also took her in for her newborn screening and that's why I'm on here now and Naomi is in the shower.

All in all things are going good. We're both tired and excited. We should be home Friday afternoon and may be up for some visitors on Sunday. If you're in the area just call. I'm going to try and keep this up to date as possible if only a picture a day. We love and thank all of you for prayers and well wishes.

Here she is at exactly one day old.

Our Little One

We went to the doctor today and he's determined that Naomi is ready to deliver and will be starting to induce her around 6pm Wednesday night. So we'll be in the hospital overnight and then start the delivery process in the morning. I'll be posting pictures here as soon as I have access.

what we've been doing

At least one of us is having fun being pregnant.
The other one is busy refinishing floors...
and painting a baby's room.
